AW24 CONCRETE SOULS

The Collection

Fashion and Brutalist architecture have inspired and influenced each other since the 1950’s through their shared love of provocative designs. Their interplay shapes a modern aesthetic, pushing the boundaries and blurring the lines between form and fashion.

It is this approach to visual creation, that inspired the Karl Donoghue team for the AW24 collection. Concrete Souls signals a new nostalgia, that celebrates contrasting elements in perfect harmony. A reinterpretation of the synergy between hard and soft, bold and elegant, neutral hues and vibrant colours.

The dramatic beauty of Brutalist forms and the legacy of the Barbican architects, Bon, Powell, and Chamberlin influenced the collection, capturing the essence of this impressive architectural buildings. Our foundation colours reflect the fabric of the building: Concrete, Marble and Charcoal. Palm, representing nature in the concrete jungle that is the urban landscape of the Barbican.

With meticulous attention to detail, we have created a collection that harmoniously merges the raw power of the Brutalist aesthetics with the vibrant personalities that inhabit these architectural wonders. Three pop colours, each named after the architects behind the Barbican, Bon (Pink), Powell (Electric Blue), and Chamberlin (Yellow), introduce new life and energy into the collection, mirroring the vibrant characters that thrive amongst the backdrop of the concrete structures.
